What Happens During a BBL HEROic Treatment?

BBL HEROic treatment typically takes 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the size and areas being treated. During treatment, a clear gel is applied over the treatment areas to help your skin absorb light energy. You should feel little to no discomfort as your provider gently glides the handpiece over the skin as the treatment begins.

Pulsed light improves your skin’s condition by targeting highly vascular and pigmented areas like visible blood vessels or sunspots, breaking them down for absorption by the body. Additionally, the generated heat interacts with collagen-rich areas, triggering the body’s healing response. This results in a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, revealing glowing, youthful skin.

What is BBL HEROic Recovery Like?

There is little to no downtime following BBL HEROic treatment. Patients can typically resume normal activities immediately.  While every patient varies, here’s what to expect, in general, after treatment:

  • Skin sensitivity: Your skin may feel sensitive, like a mild sunburn, but this typically subsides within 48 hours.
  • Healing process: You might notice temporary darkening of pigmented areas, some redness, and swelling. This is part of the natural healing process, as damaged cells are replaced by healthy ones.
  • Post-treatment care: We suggest avoiding direct sun exposure and wearing broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen, especially during the first 72 hours post-treatment. Depending on the skin’s pre-existing condition, mild discomfort, dryness, or minor crusting may occur.
  • Skincare and makeup: You can typically resume using skincare products and wearing makeup within 1 to 2 days post-treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is BBL HEROic laser different than its predecessors?

While BBL HEROic shares the same core technology with its predecessors—BBL® and BBL® HERO™—HEROic introduces revolutionary technological advancements, including Intelligent Control software and the Skin Positioning System. These innovations facilitate faster, more effective treatments, enhanced patient comfort, and exceptional results.

Is BBL HEROic painful?

BBL HEROic is well-tolerated by most patients. It is commonly described as feeling like a quick snap on the skin, with the sensation fading swiftly as the handheld device pulses over the skin. Thanks to BBL HEROic’s CoolComfort™ technology, which cools the epidermis during the procedure, topical anesthesia is not necessary. After treatment, it is normal for the skin to feel warm for about 30 to 60 minutes.

How many treatment sessions are needed?

Patients typically require at least 3 treatments spaced about 3 weeks apart to achieve optimal results.

When will I see results?

While every patient varies, most achieve smoother, even-toned, youthful, and glowing skin about 1 to 2 weeks after their last treatment. Skin will continue to improve over the following weeks and months.

How long do results typically last?

Results typically last about a year with consistent sun protection. Scheduling maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months helps keep your skin healthy and glowing.

Does BBL laser really work?

Research shows that patients who maintain a regular regimen of BBL treatment reduce and delay the long-term appearance of aging skin, such as photodamage, telangiectasias, and skin elasticity, in a natural-looking way.
