What Is VISIA Complexion Analysis?

VISIA Complexion Analysis is a noninvasive skin assessment that uses advanced imaging technology to provide a fast, detailed, and accurate view of your skin’s condition that the naked eye can’t see.

The system uses a high-intensity, broad-spectrum light source to illuminate the skin and a proprietary algorithm to identify areas of concern.

How Does the System Work?

VISIA uses three high-resolution cameras to capture facial images at the surface and subsurface of the skin. It then creates a 3D map of your skin, showing areas of concern that can be addressed through treatment.

As you sit comfortably, the camera module rotates around you, capturing images that overlay for clarity and accuracy. The system’s software then analyzes the final, viewable photos. The process takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

VISIA Complexion Analysis helps diagnose conditions such as rosacea and acne, measure the effectiveness of treatment options over time, and more.

What Does VISIA Complexion Analysis Measure?

The system measures and assesses 8 elements of your skin, including:

• Skin tone. VISIA Complexion Analysis measures several skin tone factors, including redness, brown spots, and UV spots, to provide an overall picture of your complexion. The system also assesses how much melanin (brown pigment) is present in your skin. 
• Age spots. The system identifies sun damage, brown spots, freckles, and other signs of aging on your face. 
• Texture. VISIA Complexion Analysis examines your skin’s surface texture, looking for variations in smoothness and signs of damage, including fine lines and wrinkles. 
• Pores. The size, depth, and appearance of your pores are evaluated, and porphyrins (evidence of bacteria lodged in pores) are identified. Pore size tends to increase with age but can also be influenced by your genes and lifestyle factors, such as smoking and eating spicy foods. 

The system can also gauge your skin’s true age based on the amount of sun damage, wrinkling, and discoloration you have.
