Ultrasound Breast Implant Screening
After having breast augmentation surgery, many women seek peace of mind by monitoring their silicone breast implants regularly for complications such as ruptures or capsular contractures.
To ensure your safety and protect your investment, we’re pleased to offer complimentary ultrasound breast screenings at our Little Rock practice for our breast augmentation patients from Fayetteville, Jonesboro, Conway, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, and throughout greater Arkansas, beginning 5 years after your implants are placed. Any patient visiting us with a history of silicone breast implants may also participate in ultrasound breast screenings for a fee.
How Often Should I Have My Breast Implants Checked?
While most women with breast implants don’t experience complications, the FDA recommends undergoing an ultrasound or MRI 5 years after breast implant placement and then every 2 to 3 years. However, many patients are not aware of the recommendation or skip it due to the cost and inconvenience.
Ultrasound offers an effective, simple, and safe alternative to MRI. Regular ultrasound screenings help ensure the integrity of your breast implants even if you aren’t experiencing any noticeable concerns or symptoms.
Breast implant concerns and potential risks to watch out for include:
- Changes in breast shape
- Breast pain or tenderness
- Breast lumps or ripples
If you notice any of the above symptoms, we encourage you to contact our office as soon as possible.

Meet Dr. WrightBenefits of In-Office Ultrasound Breast Screening
Beginning 5 years after your implants are placed, Wright Plastic Surgery and Med Spa offers complimentary in-office breast implant screenings to provide a safe, convenient screening option. Our highly trained team leverages high-resolution ultrasound technology to monitor your implants and check for complications.
In-office screenings provide our breast augmentation patients the following key benefits:
- We schedule and perform all ultrasound screenings in-house.
- Ultrasound technology is highly safe and effective.
- Early detection ensures your health and safety.
- We review your imaging on-site and provide immediate feedback.
- Screenings are quick, easy, and comfortable.
It’s important to note that ultrasound screenings are ideal for the detection of breast implant ruptures, but they shouldn’t replace mammograms, ultrasounds, or MRI screenings for breast cancer detection.
What Happens After Ultrasound Breast Screening
While complications are rare, based on your findings, we may recommend that you take one or more of the following actions:
- Periodic monitoring to ensure your breast implants remain intact and healthy
- Further testing, such as a mammogram or MRI, to further investigate any potential concerns
- Scheduling a breast implant removal (explant surgery) or replacement consultation with Dr. Wright if your ultrasound confirms that implant abnormalities exist.
